Multi-Biometric Access Control Deployment — H-Yetux Nigeria Limited
H-Yetux Nigeria Limited delivered comprehensive multi-biometric access control solutions at two major international airports — Aminu Kano International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The deployments combined high-performance ZKTeco biometric terminals (face, palm, fingerprint, card/PIN) with controlled physical barriers (waist turnstiles and gates), centralized access control panels, secure networking, and command-center integration to provide fast, accurate, and auditable access for staff, contractors, and service personnel.
To meet airport security, throughput and hygiene requirements, H-Yetux standardized on the following ZKTeco device families (device selection balanced recognition speed, multi-modal authentication and environmental resilience):
ProFace X series (ProFace X / ProFace X[DS]) — ultra-fast facial recognition terminals with large template capacity and optional palm verification on P-models; designed for high throughput and outdoor/harsh lighting conditions.
SpeedFace / SpeedFace-V5L — visible-light facial recognition terminals that support face, palm and fingerprint verification with anti-spoof and mask detection; ideal for contactless, hygienic authentication.
PFace202 / P160 / PA10 (Palm + Fingerprint terminals) — multi-biometric terminals supporting palm (shape/print/vein), fingerprint and large card/template capacities for robust identification and high concurrencies. These models support card, PIN and multi-biometric fallback modes.
inBio / InBio Pro series access control panels — project-grade controllers that integrate readers (fingerprint, card, PIN) and manage doors/turnstiles at scale with TCP/IP connectivity for centralized management.
Multi-modal authentication: face, palm (3-in-1 palm: shape, print, vein), fingerprint, RFID card, and PIN allow flexible security policies and contactless operation.
High capacity & speed: ProFace X and similar terminals support thousands of templates and sub-second verification for minimal queueing during peak airport operations.
Anti-spoof & mask detection: modern computer-vision based anti-spoofing protects against presentation attacks and supports mask-on verification where required.
Enterprise integration: InBio panels and ZKBioSecurity software provide centralized logging, role-based policies, and API hooks for airport security systems and HR/time attendance.
Requirements & site survey — H-Yetux conducted comprehensive site audits to determine user flows (staff lanes, contractor access, service entrances), environmental factors (lighting, weather exposure), and physical mounting options for turnstiles and readers.
Solution design — final system architecture included ProFace X and SpeedFace terminals at primary entry lanes (face/palm), PFace/P160 devices at staff entrances (palm/fingerprint/fallback card & PIN), ZKTeco turnstiles for physical control, and InBio Pro panels for door/turnstile control and scalability.
Network & Power design — structured cabling (CAT6), PoE provisioning where supported, dedicated VLANs for security devices, UPS backup for terminals, and hardened network switches for the security subnet.
Pre-staging & bench testing — each terminal was pre-configured, firmware-verified, and tested with simulated user enrollments in H-Yetux test labs to ensure compatibility and performance prior to site installation.
On-site installation — civil mounting of waist turnstiles, weatherproof housings where needed, secure mounting of biometric terminals at ergonomically optimized heights, and installation of panic/exit wiring per aviation safety codes.
System integration — ZKBioSecurity (or airport’s central VMS/PSIM where requested) was configured to handle real-time events, user groups, schedules, alarms and automated actions (e.g., door unlock, alarm on tailgating). Integration with HR/time attendance and contractor databases was implemented for dynamic access provisioning.
User enrollment & data migration — phased biometric enrollment for thousands of airport staff and contractors with secure template handling and OTP verification for initial enrollment. Special workflows were created for VIP, emergency and contractor passes.
Training & SOPs — operations and security teams were trained on daily operation, user provisioning, alarm handling, and reporting. H-Yetux delivered Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and an escalation matrix.
Handover & SLA — full documentation, spare-parts kit, and SLAs for preventative maintenance, remote support and on-site response were handed over.
Redundancy & uptime: terminals connected via dual-path network (primary LAN + backup via PoE switch or secondary link) with UPS support to ensure continued operation during grid interruptions.
Role-based access & segregation: system administrators, supervisors and security operators were assigned granular roles; late/temporary access rules configured for contractors.
Auditability & forensics: all access events, alarms, and authentication attempts logged centrally with exportable reports (CSV/PDF) for investigations and compliance.
Tailgating detection & anti-passback: logic and sensor inputs used to detect tailgating and enforce anti-passback policies at critical zones.
Privacy & template security: biometric templates stored in encrypted form on controllers; template export restricted. Enrollment procedures follow privacy best practices (consent, minimal data retention).
Throughput increase: sub-second biometric verification reduced staffing queues at controlled access points during shift changes, improving passenger/staff flow.
Improved security posture: multi-modal biometrics and centralized monitoring reduced unauthorized access incidents and enabled faster incident response.
